Watching the show makes me nervous, and Joffrey makes me uncomfortable. I want to reach through the TV and bitch slap the bastard! He just gets my ire going. SO does his mother. Such evil.
Smoke Monster was creepy, indeed. Yes, I do enjoy where all of this is going,

Things just get crazier and more messed up, there's a whole lot of bloodshed, backstabbing and horrible behavior on its way. Probably lots of sex too.

I'm okay with all of that.

I'm a bit surprised that there are only 2 episodes left, since I'm pretty sure the second book was a bit longer than the first one and last season was 10 episodes to what looks to be 9 for this season.
The horrible people will continue to be horrible, some even getting more horrible-er and while I don't remember Dany's dragons ever being stolen in the book, it was a good twist that added impact to the super-creepy scene with Xaro and the wizard where they reveal their coup.
I also liked the scene with Jamie and Alton Lannister (I think that was his name). One of the producers talks about it in a behind the scenes thing on the HBO website.

I do like the changes they have made to the story for the TV show, it adds a new element. I know the dragons weren't kidnapped in the book but Drogon did show up and burn down the house of the undying when they tried to kill Dany. Xaro making himself king is an interesting twist, i wonder if they are trying to combine a few of the slave cities. I'm going to have to go back and reread some of book 2, I don't know how they have time to finish up everything in 2 episodes.

I was hoping that they meant 2 more episodes after the one they were showing the preview for. Thanks for clearing that up, I hadn't gotten around to looking. The Battle of the Blackwater is going to be epic (hopefully, at least) and the end of the season is going to leave a bunch of people hanging, but it will be so worth it. I actually read the 3rd book first because they had it in a book store I was in and it looked interesting. I was a bit confused because I didn't know all of the stuff that had occurred previously, but much of it was explained in the narrative and I was hooked. I went and bought the first two, then read those and re-read the third one. Waiting for the 4th book wasn't so terrible, but the wait on the 5th book was pretty rough and there's still 2 more planned. I guess the good thing about that is that HBO has a potential 7 season show, but since it took about 6 years for him to finish book 5, if books 6 and 7 take another 12 years to complete that won't fly. *cool side note (to me), the third book was published on my 30th birthday.

I'm thinking that book 7 will be out a few months before Season 7 starts on HBO. That would give us 2 books in the next 5 years. Hopefully......

I have this book at home, and am going to read IT and the thrid over the summer. I am not participating as much as I would like to in this thread because I am not as familiar with things as I want to be.

The battle of Blackwater was Epic !!! By far the best episode of both season one and two so far. Every frame of the episode was brilliant.
