Welcome to the Replacement SSb, our new home since ABC shut down the old Oceanic Boards in October '07.
So to start with - the Moderator policy. We do have a George, but I don't intend for him get much action. However, please read the following carefully to avoid misunderstandings later:
There will be no favouritism, no banning people because they disagree with the consensus, because they are stupid, wrong or unpopular.
You won't get banned for bad language, but may get warned for excessivly foul language. Most of the most offensive words are starred out, but if you assbastards find your way around the blocks, then good for you.
Please don't post personal information including Facebook and MySpace links, email addresses, phone numbers etc. PM each other if you want to swap this info. There are trolls out there and not everyone wants their personal information in the public domain. It's easier to get hold of than you think.
The only things that will get you banned are:
- Spamming or trollng the boards, thread bombing and all that lame crap
- Posting other people's personal details without their permission, including emails. names and pictures etc (trannies in tailpipes not withstanding)
- Identity theft - posing as another poster in order to fool people. (The alias will get banned only, regular fun aliases are fine)
- Persistant bullying or abuse. And I don't mean you can't take the piss out of one another, call each other names or be dismissively rude to one another...where would the fun be in that? But I thinkwe all know that a line has to be drawn somewhere. I don't want to end up in the news for provoking a suicide (or a law suit!).
- Racism and other forms of hate towards a group of people that don't look, speak or believe the same as you. Healthy debate on any subject is fine, but again, we all know where the line is.
Spoilers: Now the new season is back, please be considerate of others and do not spoilers unannounced in the middle of threads, post spoiler threads that have not been marked SPOILER accordingly, or post theories that use spoiler information without warning people first. Posts will be edited without notice, and persistant offenders will have their accounts disabled, first for a week, then permanantly.

Posting links to other sites: This is perhaps my most controvercial, and vague, policy, but people seem to have responded generally positively to it. When posting links to articles and videos, please make sure you are posting to the original site, rather than copying and pasting the entire content of the article here, or linking to someone else who has ::cough::darkufo:cough::. Similarly with videos, if they are available on ABC, please link to there. I'm not going to be a nazi about this, but I do reserve the right to edit posts where necessary, and the same rules of account disabling apply.
If you have a problem with a particular person, thread or post, or any other questions, suggestion, or complaints PM me and I will deal with at as appropriate. Please note - this does not mean I will automatically delete it.

Right, enough of the stupid rules, on to the fun stuff:
Board basics:
- Start a new thread - top right of screen
- Move between pages - bottom left
- Quote, Modify, Delete posts - top right of the post
- Search, Bookmark, Reply - bottom of the thread
- Quick post, bottom of the page, no smilies with this option unless you know the shortcut.
Avatars: To choose an avatar, click on your name, click on 'Modify Profile', and paste the URL of your chosen avi in the 'Avatar URL' box. You might also want to set the height and width to the maximum (100x100), as otherwise it will default to 65x65.
Remember also to only post direct links to images, or they won't work.
Also in your Modify Profile area you can add personal text, signatures etc, and set up all the preferences for your account, including changing your visible name.
We can also use most UBBC codes, which do the basic bold/underline etc, but also add some cool effects. the following work, but feel free to experiment, and add any more you discover (without spaces - plae what you want to be affected between the two tags.):

[ u ] [ /u ] Underline Text.
[ sub ] [ /sub ] Subscript.
[ sup ] [/sup] Superscript.

[ right ] [ /right ] Align Right.
[ move ] [ /move ] moves text
[ quote ] [ /quote ] Add Quote.
[ glow ] [ /glow ] makes text glow
[ list ] [/li][li] [ /list ] Make a List. Any text with a bracketed asterisk will be a bullet point. To add more bulleted items, just add more bracketed asterisks, like this [/li][li]
[ color=] [ /color ] Change the color of the text. Type in the word for the color you want to use after the equal sign in the first tag. For example, [ color=red ], [ color=blue ], etc
If you think a thread deserves to be Stickied, PM me and I will look into it, I don't want more than one or two at a time as it disrupts the flow of the board.
Skins: There are currently 2 skins -the default black 'Oceanic' skin, and the 'Type-G' skin for those that find the black too conspicuous at work. It bears a passing resemblance to G-Mail, and can be found in your Modify Profile area.
